Eight years is a long time. Last week was the eighth anniversary of me blogging in some form. The last time I wrote any sort of post celebrating a blogging anniversary was back in 2006, which was the fifth anniversary. That was back when I preferred LiveJournal, although for a period in that five years, I kept two blogs – the LJ being a bit more personal.
Now I prefer to keep my own blog on my own website, and whilst it probably isn’t as personal as it once was (I still sporiadically write locked posts on the LJ, as a way to get stuff out) thats fine, cause my Twitter is a good way to see the stream of crap that comes out of my head each day!

Congratulations on 8 years! I have no idea when I first started blogging, it must have been at a similar time – on easyjournal, then livejournal, then I did what you did and flipped between LJ & my WP blog.
I know what you mean about LJ being a bit more personal, though – you develop a group of friends there; there is a good sense of community. I think this is missing slightly in these kind of blogs, because it’s harder to filter who reads what, and also because there isn’t quite as much commenting & discussion. Twitter helps fill that gap though, certainly!
I still crosspost all my entries to Livejournal, and hopefully now to Dreamwidth as well, where a few of my LJ friends are moving! I read & try to comment on my friends page often but I can’t help missing the old spirit of the place a bit.
