On Saturday, Jess and I caught a train to London, where we had been invited to a Mad Hatters Tea Party by Aussie.
We found our lovely hotel and started getting ready slowly – which meant watching Total Wipeout and Doctor Who, then headed downstairs to meet Maria and Danni of Frills ‘n’ Spills for a drink before getting a cab to the venue and meeting the other ladies there
We were shown a little demonstration by a hair stylist (whos name I’ve forgotten, boo!) before sitting down at the table, where Katherine Elizabeth, a milliner, showed us how to make a little hair piece – either a little circle thing, a hairband or (what I chose) a big felt piece. The table was covered in ribbons, feathers, buttons, beads, netting and probably a lot more things, but there was just so much!
Here’s Jess and I sewing away!
We were served yummy nibbly things, champagne, and (my favourite) gin punch in a tea cup. (I’m convinced alcohol in tea cups is the way forward – no spills for me!) I took quite a few photos, but have tried to keep them to a minimum here (with a few nicked from the 1000Heads Flickr stream)
We headed back to the hotel with Maria, Danni and Lydia (who was also staying at the hotel) and giggled at the little “Drink Me” bottles in our gift bags that seemed to be exploding! Oops!
On Sunday morning, Jess and I headed to Covent Garden, but unfortunatly everything was closed! We got the train back to Brizzle (of course not forgetting the Krispy Kremes) and were entertained by some American tourists who didn’t quite understand things like how you say Reading, or that an allotment isn’t a farm.
Here are some of the blogs of the ladies I met on Saturday – Eleanor at Pretty Much Penniless, Amy at For Domestic Goddess, Redial, Lil at A Storm in a Teacup and Sherin & Leia at Hi Fashion. Apologies if I’ve missed you off – my brain was full of names and blogs by the end of the night!
It was so awesome meeting lots of bloggers, thank you soooooo much to Emma at Uncover Aussie and 1000 Heads for another fab night, I’m already looking forward to the next events!
