Wow, it seems like ages ago that we were in America, and yet, it seems really recent. Does that make sense? Does anything I say make sense? Hmm.
Anyway, I blogged about our trip from London to San Francisco, but didn’t actually write about the rest of what went on. This was partly because I was so busy with my hectic lifestyle of er… a bit of shopping then American daytime TV. Its not as good as UK telly btw. No Jezza. (Everyone loves a bit of Jezza)
We were in Palo Alto while the boyfriend was meeting lots of work people (including his new boss) While he was in meetings, I wandered about the little city.
I visited Stanfords campus:
I got a train to Mountain View (and was incredibly grateful when I found that Google provides free wifi all over the town. Waiting for a train was much more entertaining when I could talk to people on Twitter)
I found a roundabout! (My dad has always said that they don’t really do roundabouts in America, so this one amused me with its helpful diagrams!)
I went to a diner!
(Man that place was awesome. I had a cherry soda and a Philly cheese steak. Yum. I was tempted to have an egg cream like Harriet the Spy but then I found out what its made of. Eugh. Fizzy milk? Weird.)
I saw other random things!

The house where HP started in the garage and is said to be the birthplace of Silicon Valley. (I know, crazy times)

It was pretty nice, especially as its not an especially touristy town. Its more fun to go to untouristy places!

Its a crappy iPhone picture of the house, I wish I had taken my SLR out that day because it was so weird looking. It was also in like an L shape, which just made it look weirder.

I kinda stood there for a bit and was like “SERIOUSLY? DIAGRAMS?” It wasn’t even in a built up part of town, it was more suburb-y!

ROUNDABOUT IN AMERICA!!
My US friends were meant to be hiring a car last time they were here – I was driving them around and explaining stuff ‘This sign is national speed limit, roundabouts seem scary but you just have to give way to the right…’ and they were getting seriously scared. In the end, they did not hire a car. Sensible girls.
Alex drove from San Francisco to Palo Alto in what we affectionately named “The Tank” which was a “midsize” SUV. It was an interesting journey, especially with a dumb sat nav that just shouted at us.
enjoyed looking at the photos. the campus looks really intimidating. i dont know what sort of people go there
It was the end of term when I went, so there weren’t many students about. The photos I’ve got here are of the more showy part of campus, I walked all over, and it seemed like a normal uni (just much much bigger)

Would love to visit one day, it seems absolutely awesome! The Harriet the Spy reference made me laugh; I used to want to be just like her. Must re-read that book :)
