Bath in Fashion

Last Sunday, I headed over to Bath in Grace’s car, squished in with Laura, SJ and Tara for a mystery tour of Bath. I know Bath reasonably well, my boyfriend used to live there, and I’ve been over enough to visit friends, but I only really knew the shops around Southgate which are just the usual high street shops.

We arrived a little early, so popped round the corner to a vintage tea room I’ve been to before and had a quick cuppa before heading to the Fashion Museum for…well, more tea and scones (and all the stuff that obviously goes with scones)

We heard about what’s going to be happening for Bath in Fashion, then had a quick peep at the actual Fashion Museum exhibit. Laura and I ended up playing with the hats…

…I’m thinking of wearing a top hat more often. It seems like the Bristol thing to do.

The dress of the year for 2011 – a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress from the White Dress Project, which was created as a cover for probably the most famous dress of the decade – Kate Middleton’s wedding dress.

We split into two groups – mine being the group I came with, woo! – and headed into town. We were taken to a few different independent shops, such as Prey, Magpie and Bear (where we all fell in love with Wookie, the resident dog!) and Little Lab where we were shown some of the latest technologies in makeup (which seems like an odd phrase, I know!) and introduced to brands that haven’t yet come over to the UK.

We headed to Jamie’s Deli in Milsom Place – just opposite the Jamie’s Italian, and the only deli in the company. Jamie’s Italian is headquartered in Bath, so this branch and the restaurant will try out the new recipes before they roll out around the country. We sampled some meats, cheeses and bread (YUM) and I ended up buying some to take home with me. We met up with the other group at Hall and Woodhouse, just off Queen Square, for a brew and a gossip about what we’d been up to. We were given goodie bags from Bath in Fashion and also Little Lab which were a lovely treat, and a special pass which will let us visit lots of places in Bath – there may be more posts about Bath in this blogs future!

Thank you to the lovely ladies from Bath in Fashion (and of course to Gina!) – I’m looking forward to the events in April!
