Every year, Bath in Fashion puts on various events around the city and for the third year (check out the posts from 2013 and 2014 here), I was invited to go on their bloggers preview day to see what various retailers would be doing.
First though, we got to check out the new exhibit at the Fashion Museum, A History of Fashion in 100 Items. It only opened on the 19th, so we were one of the first groups who got to see the new exhibit. It’s another excellent exhibit, taking you from the early 1600’s to the present day. Here are a few pics from the exhibit, but you must go and see it for yourself!
After a bit of lunch at the museum (and a very messy muffin!), we split up into teams and went around the city hunting out items that showed off some of the latest trends. I was with Josephine, Kate and Clair as Team Rhodes (since Zandra Rhodes is going to be giving a talk at Bath in Fashion), and our task was to find tailored, fringed and tassled items. I found it much easier to find the tailored items, since that’s the sort of style I normally go for! We visited so many lush stores, but in order, we hit up Hobbs, Chanii B, Ezza, Phase Eight, Joules, Seasalt, Crew Clothing, Flock and Next.

After hunting down lots of gorgeous items (and creating a bit of a wishlist!), we headed to Jollys (which is actually a House of Fraser) for a makeover with Nars then we were let loose in the store to find items to try on. It’s pretty rare for me to go and try clothes on when I’m actually looking for something, but even more so when I’m not looking for something in particular, so I thought I’d try things I wouldn’t normally go for. I loved this jumpsuit from Phase Eight – it was so comfortable! I also tried on this pleated dress from Biba and a pretty pink dress which I think was from Phase Eight again, but I can’t find that on the House of Fraser website!
We ended the day with cocktails at Be At One and some amazing goodie bags (I especially love the cashmere handwarmers from Brora and the glasses/phone case from Chanii B – I’m wearing the handwarmers now, and the case is great for finding my phone in my bag!)
Bath in Fashion is from 18th – 24th April and there are events for everyone – from watching Breakfast at Tiffanys to craft beer tasting at Hunter and Sons to a wearable technology masterclass (which sounds seriously interesting!). You can see all the events on the site here. Thank you to the Bath in Fashion team – it was such a fun filled day!
