(doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as London Baby does it?)
A while ago, I was contacted by a lady called Lauren and was asked if I would be interested in becoming one of their “Aussie Angels“. I love Aussie, so of course I said yes. Lauren explained that there would be three parts to being an Angel – firstly the treasure hunt (which sadly I couldn’t take part in, but Lauren was kind enough to send the gift box to me anyway), a pampering session and a girly night out. Saturday night was the pampering event, which took place at Bad Apple Hair in the centre of Birmingham. I asked Helen and Zoe if they would come with me, and of course they said yes!
Helen and I met at Birmingham New Street and had an excellent afternoon shopping (although Birmingham Primark is hell on earth!) and eating. Zoe met us about half 5, so we dumped our bags on her poor husband James and wandered off. After a little mix up with the times, we had some food in a nearby Wetherspoons (and tried to avoid beating up children running about screaming) and headed to the salon, where we were the first ones there! We were given glasses of champagne (which is my favourite way to be greeted, just so you know!) and taken to have our hair washed with some yummy Aussie goop. (Goop is obviously a technical word to describe shampoo and conditioner) Whilst the 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioner worked its stuff on my hair, the girl shampooing my hair gave me a head massage (which normally I hate, but she was actually quite good!)
My stylist Pippa blew dried my hair into a mass of voluminous curls, which was a nice change from the straightened state I usually have. (Oddly, it looked like a much better version of how my hair is if I let it airdry) Sadly my curls dropped out by the end of the night, but I will definatly have to curl my hair like that again for a night out!
Helen was also given lovely curls, but her hair managed to stay in that shape till the next morning. (Cow. I mean, she’s my best friend and everything, but stlll. Cow.) and Zoe was given straight straight hair. To be fair, Zoe’s hair is straight anyway, but since her hair is soooooo long, if they had curled it, they would have been there all weekend!
We all felt very swish, and had an excellent gossip whilst waiting for the other Angels and their friends to have their hair done. Our champagne glasses weren’t allowed to be empty for too long (apparently we drunk the local Tesco dry of fizz!) and after everyones hair was done, we were taken to a local bar, Red, for cocktails. We ordered something which should have been melon and appletinis, but since there was no apple schnapps, we were given Midori, vodka and lemonade. Which was VERY strong. No complaints here of course!
James then picked us up and took us to a takeaway for chippy chips (nom nom) and then back to their house where we watched the first episode of Glee (excellent!) Sadly my phone died around 9pm, otherwise I would have had some AudioBoo recordings here of our amazing singing in the car. Do not listen to James, he would say we were rubbish. This is LIES. We are ace.
Zoe and James were dog sitting, so they went off to stay at James’ mums house, and Helen and I went to bed about 2ish.
Sunday morning, Zoe took us to her favourite greasy spoon (since she was very hungover. Us Chester girls are far more hardcore apparently) and afterwards we dropped Helen off at a train station (sadness ensuded, since I don’t get to see her as much as I wish!) on the way to James’ mums house where I got attacked by a million puppies. (OK, not a million. But puppies! Cute! ZOMG!)
I had such an awesome time in Birmingham, and am very grateful to Lauren, Thom, Lydia and Emma at 1000 Heads for making sure we were spoilt! I’m so excited for the night out now!
Zoe and Helen have also written up their own versions of the night, go read them!

melon and appletinis are my FAVOURITE, you could have insisted they used apple sourz instead of the lacking schnapps though.
midori is best with fresh oj when not in cocktails, though off the walls key west coolers are the shizzle!

Heya – thanks for inviting me, I had such a great time! Also, I was a bit too drunk to thank you properly when you gave them to me so thanks for the itunes card & ladybug! We’re buying the TomTom app next week so it’s perfect timing :-)

Hiya I was the one who had to leave early! But it was lovely to meet you and go to the event. Did you get a bottle of conditioner to try out? I think I missed out on that by leaving early!! Looks like you had a great evening though. Hopefully meet you at the next installment!
