Hello!
How are you after the lovely long weekend? Mine was very relaxing…perhaps a little too relaxing, as Sunday became a total write off!
I went over to Alexs on Friday and we spent most of the evening buying random crap – I was hit by the boyfriend tax (where I had to buy duplicate items because I’m too lazy to carry them between houses) and he was hit by the gin tax…OK, we just like gin. Three (different brands) bottles of gin isn’t overkill, is it?
Saturday was spent going over to Bath to collect a few bits and that, then we got back and watched the new Dr Who. Despite my initial “meh”ness towards Matt Smith in “The End of Time“, I really enjoyed his first proper episode. Steven Moffat is one of my favourite TV writers (many an evening at Uni was spent watching Coupling, and of course dropping random Jeff quotes into the day!)
The Doctor and Amy seem to be a well matched couple, and I’m looking forward to the next episode already!
So Sunday was a bit of a write off because I just slept all day! I went to bed at about midnight on Saturday, and slept off and on till 4pm. Oops.
I read for a little bit before getting up for a shower at 6pm. I dressed as normal…and went straight back to bed. I woke about 1am when Alex did, but whilst he went downstairs to watch a movie (his sleep pattern was just as rubbish as mine on Sunday), I just slept some more.
I eventually made it out of bed on Monday morning about half 10, which was pretty impressive considering normally I struggle to get 6 hours sleep! Much needed though.
Monday would have been my mums 56th birthday, but instead of lying around the house and getting all mopey about it as I did before Christmas and on Mothers Day, we headed up to Clifton to meet Michaela and Jonny for pizza and mussels at ZeroDegrees (where Louise and Nathan took me for my birthday last year)
I had a yummy pizza with steak, chillis, onions and pesto on, mmm!
There was more Ikea assembly fun in the evening, before lazing on the sofa to watch Dr Who, American Dad and Chuck with a glass of wine and some Eton Mess (which is possibly the easiest desert to make ever. Chop up some strawberries, whip into some cream, dish out cream, smash some meringue into them, and chuck more berries on top. Peasy!)
I feel like I could do with another long weekend though because I didn’t get nearly enough accomplished!
How did you spend yours?
Matt in the Hat says
Working in a pub for basic time. There are two more long weekends in May.
I hate bank holidays.
