It is almost impossible for me to pack lightly. I’m the girl who took a wheely suitcase last time she went to London for ONE NIGHT and struggled to close it. I’m the girl who took four handbags with her for the same event but used one thats so battered from all the usage. I would take a large weekend bag to stay at the boyfriends, even though I would only ever wear leggings and jumpers around the house. (It never quite clicked in my brain that I should probably leave all those sort of clothes at his house, because I stayed there most weekends. Oh well, these problems disappear when you live together and you inherit new ones, like doing the laundry)
Which is why I’m starting to panic juuuuuuuust a little bit about going away in less than a fortnight. Oh, did I not mention? The boy has to go to California to do some work, meetings and training, and very very amazingly kindly has bought me a ticket to go with him. EXCITEMENT. The last time I went away on holiday for anything longer than a weekend was 12 years ago, when I spent 3 weeks in Little Rock, Arkansas for Christmas, because my Dad was working out there. My first (and only to date) transatlantic flight involved three planes (Manchester > Newark > Houston > Little Rock) and my mum having forced my sister and I to wear our best clothes (this was something she always insisted on when we were younger to go into town!)
We’ll be spending the week in Palo Alto (where A’s HQ is) then heading up to San Francisco for Friday night and Saturday night, flying back late on Sunday. This is where I need your help, lovely people. I’m going to have NOTHING to do during the week while the boy is slaving away, and a girl can’t shop all the time. (Well, I could, but as of today, I am a jobless bum…my contract finally ended yesterday. Bad times for my purse, but brilliant times for my wellbeing!)
Packing does also mean that I have to think about which bags to use. A has a rather nice set of plain black luggage – mine clashes with a bright pink hard case and a red leather weekend bag (the cream bag in the image above but a lovely red) At least I’ll be able to spot my case on the carousel!
I’d love to hear any and all recommendations from you for what to do in Silicon Valley – it has been suggested I go and poke Facebook, but that might get me in trouble. I really want to visit the Apple HQ in Cupertino – nerdy I know! Our hotel is right by Stanford‘s campus so I’d like to take a look about (if I’m allowed?) to see how different it is to my uni, Aberystwyth. Of course, I’ve been requested to pick up a few things – Jolly Ranchers and OPI nail varnish being top of the list.
I’m going to be taking my iPad with me, and my cameras, so hopefully I’ll have lots to share!

Haha, my mother still insists I wear my best stuff when travelling – I never do though anymore. It’s just that I see so many people in gas stations or airport lounging around in their sweatpants that I appear over-dressed. Not that I consider sweatpants suitable travelling attire…
Anyway. I have no advise on California really but I just needed to tell you that I’m absolutely jealous! I never want to travel anywhere anymore except for London but California is one of the few places I’d like to see :)
I hope you have a brilliant time :)

YAY JOLLY RANCHERS!
If you find them, as they are quite difficult, i’d like some Hello Kitty Meowberry flavoured Pop-Tarts, too, thankyouplease.
You should read some SVT/H whilst there. and dress in purple, the colour of royalty ;)

This sounds like such a great trip, I am so jealous! Plus, it’ll be fantastic lazing around while he’s at work – perfect!
