I hadn’t visited @ladymcakes before, but when @mynameisaiko invited me to be her +1 at a preview event, how could I say no? We sampled the newest flavours, which include Rose, Strawberry (probably my favourite!), Lavender, Berry Mont Blanc, Dassai Blue (which has sake and white chocolate in, yum!) and I had a perfect London Fog latte to go with it.

Now I know how delicious these cakes are, going to Bellevue Square just got a little more dangerous!

A few weekends ago, I jumped in my car and did my longest solo drive up to Blaine, WA to join other members of @creatorscollectiveseattle for a weekend retreat at the gorgeous @semiahmooretreat. I have to admit, I was a little nervous (you’ll probably recognise this now as an ongoing theme with me going to these sort of events!) but I had a lot of fun!

Blaine is where the border crossing into Canada is so this would be the perfect location if you were driving north and wanted to stop somewhere. We actually stayed just down the road last April when we headed up to Vancouver and Whistler (swipe to see the view from the hotel we stayed at then of the Peace Arch, which is on the border)

Connecting with and learning from these girls was a great way to spend the weekend, and the light and airy property was the perfect place to stay with a larger group, especially if you were going to head on further into Canada. Thank you for hosting such a fun time @creatorscollectiveseattle and @semiahmooretreat, lets do it again soon!

First big electric car trip done last weekend (after 6 years of owning electric cars 😂). Walla Walla was so fun, less fun was the single stone that chipped the Rivian windscreen so badly that it needs to be replaced. Views from the passenger seat in happier less cracked times!

It’s a bit of both.

I was looking up books about influencers on my Lib

I was looking up books about influencers on my Libby app to borrow from my local library and found this book. By the end of the first chapter, I had ordered the physical book because I was finding it so interesting and knew it was one to add to my collection.

The book explains some stuff around the industry from the point of view of British influencers, and the author went so far as to do things like going to “stan” and “snarker” events, enrolling in an online influencer bootcamp and actually putting the lessons to work on her IG account. Too often, articles and books about the influencer industry are written from a slightly negative point of view, that this is just a passing fad and that anyone wanting to take part in it is a terrible, vapid, unintelligent person. I really appriciated that Olivia actually took it seriously and put the things she learnt into action instead of just writing it off.

There are not many books as detailed and involved as this, and if you have even a passing interest in the influencer industry, I would recommend picking this up.
