I’ve been a glasses wearer since I was 8, but it’s only in the last few years that I’ve paid attention to how a pair of glasses can influence an outfit. When I was at Uni, I was embarrassed about the styles of glasses that I wore – function over fashion – so I would refuse to wear them when we went out, meaning that I couldn’t see anything. (I know, how dumb.) Even now, I will wear contacts for parties, because I don’t feel like the glasses that I wear daily are special or fancy enough to go with my outfit. (Seriously, dumb.)
LensWay got in touch with me this month and sent me a few pairs of glasses, to show how they can go with different outfits. I’ll properly review the glasses soon (because this is the first time I’ve ordered glasses on line!) but I wanted to share a few looks with the different frames I was sent to show how they can complete an outfit, especially for New Years.
These are the Derek Cardigan 7019 glasses which I love – I’ve wanted a pair in this sort of style before, but haven’t found anything quite suitable. For a New Years party, I’d match these up with either this spotty mesh dress from Dorothy Perkins*, the double collar dress from Dorothy Perkins* or (my favourite) this sparkly dress from French Connection*. I’d pair any of these dresses either with these killer studded wedges*, or these cute t-bar flats*, both from ASOS.
My New Years outfit is more likely to look like this, since I prefer to just stay at home (and eat a LOT of cheese. Tis the season, and all that). Cosy jumpers and jeans would go well with the Derek Cardigan 7017 glasses which I would never have chosen myself, but after wearing them a few times, I’m in love with them! I love the Breton stripe top from Jaeger but a cheaper alternative would have to be this cable knit jumper from Miss Selfridge. I’d match them with either these cherry jeans* or the rinse wash ones*, both from Oasis, and I’d have to wear these metallic Converses*, or these tweed-ish ones.
Finally, to go with the Calvin Klein 7759 619 frames – which, I’ll admit, were the safe choice, I’d choose either this cute collared velvet dress from Oh My Love*, or perhaps this flocked fit and flare dress by Motel* (I must see if this is in the Bristol shop!) which would have to be worn with a pair of silly heels – maybe these wedge boots from Dorothy Perkins* or these Steve Madden shoe boots*
I can’t wait to try out my new glasses from LensWay with more outfits…and hopefully I’ll be able to share them more with you!
