Four years ago, I had a beautiful new layout installed. I still really loved the layout (how can I not love the logo especially, when it is still so perfect for me?) but I felt like it needed freshening up a little – I especially wanted a responsive layout. I know I often read blog posts on my phone, so I wanted it to be beautiful for those people who do the same.
I bought a premade layout from pipdig called Ghost Shell, who I found while compiling a post for Bonjour, Blogger!. I still wanted it to be recognisable as my blog (…and I was far too lazy to design a new header and colour scheme…and I still have lots of Moo cards* to use!) so after a bit of CSS bodging (a combination of reading HTML&CSS* – a pretty good intro book if you’re interested! – and Googling what I needed), I got the site looking how I wanted it to within an hour.
It’s weird how having a layout you’re not totally in love with can affect how often you want to post, but for me, it’s totally a thing. Here’s hoping that this new look means I’ll be able to blog more than once a month!
