Joining in with the 2017 look back’…lets face it, this is most likely the outfit I’ll be wearing (forever with a brew in hand!) (warning, this is a bit of an essay!)
The year was fairly evenly split with the move in mid June – we started the year quietly engaged and waiting for moving paperwork to be done by lawyers. We gave notice to be married in late January and had the tiniest wedding in March. Also in March, I passed my UK car theory test and my CIMA BA Ethics exam (because I love useless certificates) In May, we got our visas and I finished working. June was spent sorting the house out to get it ready to sell and learning to drive then a whirlwind of packing (done by other people thankfully) then we got on a plane on the 22nd!
Summer was hot, a proper summer rather than the 2 weeks of heat then rain that we get in the UK. That was a major adjustment! I passed my driving test and got back to going to the gym again in September. Exploring Seattle has been fun but I’ve barely scratched the surface and look forward to finding lots of new places next year! We finished up the year with the first White Christmas I remember in a long time.
Foodwise, I was lucky enough to be invited to a few new openings before I left Bristol, and felt it necessary to eat my way around the city before I left. Honestly, my Instagram in the Bristol half of the year is basically just food. I’m looking back and I’m feeling hungry!
There were lots of events to fit in before I left, one of my favourite events was probably the sosij dog fest at @bristolspirit where I met excellent people and more importantly many sausage dogs. My leaving party in June was pretty amazing as well and made me super sad to be leaving such an epic gang.
What will 2018 bring? Hopefully a little more calm, more positivity, and more new fun things! I just posted my usual resolutions post over on my blog – my 10th one – if you’re interested in how I did with last years resolutions and what I want to do next year!
