This is the tenth year I have written a resolution post – I’m sure I’ve said it before but writing them out and looking back has really helped keep me accountable. Even if I’m the only one reading this, then that’s fine because I’m keeping to them (most of the time…)
Previous years: 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009
So, here’s what I wanted to do last year:
- Get out more
Hm. A little. I take Jess and Jill out for walks around the neighbourhood, but they’re pretty happy just jumping around in the garden. Here’s a video of them seeing snow for the first time on Christmas Day! - Keep improving at the gym
I did really well with strength and cardio until June when we moved, then a few months off meant that I am only now starting to get back to a similar sort of place as I was. It’s disappointing, but just gives me more to work on! - Procrastinate less
This is the most ridiculous one that I failed on. I stopped working at the end of May, and yet I have still barely posted on here. - Meet more people
Sort of. I have met people since moving, but not as many as I would like! It has been more difficult that I expected, in large part because I AM SUPER AWKWARD. - Say yes!
As you may have guessed considering how we announced our wedding, we kept things quiet, but this was about saying yes to moving, etc!
And for 2018?
- Be brave
This has a few parts to it.- Be brave in doing more things (I don’t do things because I don’t know how and I don’t want to look silly.)
- Be brave in meeting new people (I know I could message local bloggers to see if they wanted to go for a coffee, but it fills me with fear in case they hate me. I KNOW THIS IS STUPID)
- Be brave in just leaving comments online (again, this is a dumb one. As I said on Twitter on Friday, I have a fear that people will think I am being sarcastic or insincere and hate me because I said I liked their hat on Instagram and then I just don’t leave the comment.)
- Less procrastinating
I have lots of ideas for things and it’s super frustrating when others do them. I need to kick my arse into gear and do them. I think one way I can do this is to go to our club and work in the library after I complete my workout. - Get back into shape
I’d like to lose a little weight because I know I feel better at weight x, so I am considering actually going to classes at the gym (which is a bit of a big deal for me because, like the first resolution, I’m afraid to go to these things in case I look daft) - Blog more
I have no excuse really.
If you write posts like this, I would love to read them!
Want to see older resolutions posts? I’ve been writing these since 2009, and you can find them all here
Dan Q says
I don’t think it matters how many times I promise myself that I’m going to get better at “blogging more”; I never seem to manage to get up to the volume of stuff I wrote back in the way-back-when. If you work out the secret to fulfililng that promise to yourself, let me know how you do it!
