When I was putting together a comparison of the Stanley 40oz Tumbler and the Yeti 35oz Rambler, I decided to create a visual collage of all the different colors the Stanley cup had been produced in over the years. To my surprise, I discovered that there were nearly 90 unique hues available! While most of the shades were (fairly!) easy to find, there were a few elusive colors that I couldn’t track down images of, like Flame (a bright red), Glass (a turquoise hue), Lilac (a self-explanatory shade), and Storm Glass (a metallic black, similar to Lava Glass and Gold Glass).
As I researched the history of the Stanley 40oz cup, I learned that it wasn’t an instant success when it debuted in 2016. Initially available in just two colors – stainless steel and matte black – the cup struggled to find a foothold in the market among outdoor enthusiasts and campers. It wasn’t until social media influencers like The Buy Guide began promoting the cup that it started to gain traction
Despite its growing popularity, Stanley decided to discontinue the cup in 2019, much to the disappointment of its dedicated fan base. However, The Buy Guide was determined to keep the spirit of the Stanley 40oz cup alive. They purchased 5,000 cups directly from the manufacturer and sold them to their followers, demonstrating the demand for the product. Eventually, Stanley took notice and officially relaunched the cup in June 2020, which promptly sold out in a matter of weeks
Throughout its production history, the Stanley 40oz cup has been produced in a wide variety of colors, from Flannel Red and Hammertone Green to Polar White and Abyss (a dark blue shade). Today, the cup remains a popular choice among outdoor enthusiasts and influencers alike and is frequently sold out due to its high demand.
