Got a question? Here are the ones I get asked most often. If there’s something I haven’t covered, feel free to drop me an email at hi@ceriselle.org!
Personal
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Chester, in the north west of England — just below Liverpool and on the Welsh border. I studied in Aberystwyth, then spent nearly a decade in Bristol before moving to the Seattle area in 2017 with my husband and our dogs. We moved for his job and honestly love it here — the weather is very familiar!
How did you meet your husband?
Via Twitter, back when that was still a wild concept! I actually wrote a blog post about it years ago because I kept getting media requests about it, and decided I’d rather just tell the story in my own words.
What do you do for work?
Since moving to the US I haven’t worked in a traditional sense — moving countries is surprisingly complicated and life took over! Before moving I worked in accounts payable for a property management firm, which I genuinely loved.
Any tips for moving from the UK to the US?
It varies a lot depending on your situation, but feel free to drop me an email at hi@ceriselle.org and I’m happy to share what I know!
Online Life
How long have you been blogging?
Since around 2000 — before it was even called blogging! ceriselle.org itself has been around since 2007. The name doesn’t actually mean anything; I like cherries, translated it to French, added an elle on the end, and here we are. I’m glad I made up a word — it means I’ve never felt boxed into one niche.
What platform do you use?
Self-hosted WordPress, which I’ve been using since 2007. I know it inside out at this point!
Can I use your photos?
Sure — just credit me and link back to the post. Please don’t reproduce full blog posts or use anything for commercial purposes without asking first.
What do you shoot with?
Mostly my iPhone — the newer models are genuinely excellent for everyday content. For older posts you might spot shots from my Sony NEX-5 or Canon 400D.
Style & Life
How would you describe your style?
Fairly classic with some girly bits — comfortable but put together. Mid-size fashion is a big part of what I write about.
What are your clothes sizes?
It varies by store, but I’m generally around a US 12 (UK 16). Shoes are EU 40 / UK 6.5–7 / US 9.
Where do you shop?
Nordstrom and Target are my go-tos in the US. I still order from ASOS for brands I love like New Look, and Boux Avenue for underwear because I haven’t found anything that matches them over here!
What’s your workout routine?
I use my Peloton Bike+ for cardio, plus treadmill walks and walking the dogs. For strength I do weight lifting — it’s become a big part of my routine.
